Midsummer's operations are guided by our Code of Conduct, developed with regards to our vision, values and guidelines for sustainable development.

Additionally, with regards to all our financial requirements, all our activities are carried out with consideration for integrity and with good ethics.

Midsummer follows the guidelines set out in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UN), the ten principles of the UN Global Compact and the International Labor Organization (ILO). Midsummer is responsible for respecting the rights of its employees and society to the extent that these are affected by the business.

What do you do in your current role?
I am responsible for accounts receivable (customer invoicing), accounts payable, VAT accounting, assigning account codes, banking (deposits, payments), reconciliations, liaising with authorities (The Swedish Tax Agency, Statistics Sweden), a range of of reports, analyses – KPI’s etc.

What have you previously worked with?
I previously worked as an accounting consultant at an accounting firm.

What do you like about your job?
The best thing about my job is that it is never dull as there are always a variety of problems to solve. Work that involves responsibility, development and taking your own initiative.

How have you developed at Midsummer?
The variation in work tasks associated with the streamlining/digitising of the accounting process, as well as the interaction with other people and colleagues ensured my personal development and gave me new insights. Being privy to the experiences and advice of other people provided me with new perspectives and experiences that were extremely helpful in my daily work. I am always learning new things, both work-related and in general.

What is the best part about working at Midsummer?
The feeling that I am part of a team and a family, where you get to be involved and come up with ideas and make decisions. Laughter at work! That I feel that my work adds something to society and contributes to a better world.

What do you like to do in your free time?
In my leisure time I am very family oriented, I am interested in culture, I like meeting up with friends, and I love nature, hiking and group training.

‘Hidden talent’, unusual experience or interest?
I played tennis, have taken oriental dance classes, and I enjoy drawing and sewing.

Erik Rantala

Role: Software Engineer

Worked at Midsummer since: 2017

What do you do in your current role?
I do a lot so let me name just a few things! I develop new software for our departments, develop and maintain software for our existing machinery in the production facility and administer our databases and remote support systems. I also manage commissioning of, and customer installations for, our DUO and UNO tools. I test and implement new hardware in our machines.

What have you previously worked with?
A little bit of everything! Once upon a time I was in the financial sector, but I have also worked at supermarkets and bookstores as well as in construction. I am also educated in the field of landscape science, which focuses on the processes that has created the landscapes we see around us today.

What do you like about your job?
I love the variety of tasks my position entails. The fact that I can go from straight up programming one day to I/O checking a communication bus the next day; To sit in a meeting planning an installation the third day and then when the meeting is finished just grab my multimeter to do a quick check of something else before heading back to the office to optimize a few tables in a database.

How have you developed at Midsummer?
In my role I have realized that the bigger picture is the only picture, there is no getting stuck on details. Just move on!

What is the best part about working at Midsummer?
It is a privilege to be part of the team that makes the future happen today. My co-workers are very focused, and the entire crew is just a great collection of people from all over the world. Most of us get to do a little bit of everything and that really sets the foundation for a unique culture and great work environment here at Midsummer.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy nature a lot and my vintage American car. I try to visit my family as much as I can and I love to check maps over areas I haven’t visited before. I love planning a hike or just fishing right next to my mountain cabin.

‘Hidden talent’, unusual experience or interest?
I am a wrist watch fanatic! I always know north, south, east and west wherever I go so I am never lost. I enjoy watching lectures in nature sciences on my spare time.

Furqan Mahmood

Role: Design engineer

Worked at Midsummer since:2016

What do you do in your current role?
I design and develop machines and products, mainly the DUO machine but also other machines and products that Midsummer are in need of. I help other departments with their projects, to achieve their tasks and Midsummer goals.

What have you previously worked with?
Midsummer is the first company I have had the opportunity to work at after graduating college. Previously, I have worked as a translator (Arabic-Swedish) for few months. I have also worked as a truck driver!

What do you like about your job?
I get to design stuff from scratch to a fully working product. I get to help others achieve their project goals by designing what they need for them. There are always new opportunities to grow and gain more experience.

How have you developed at Midsummer?
I have become more and more experienced along the years I have worked here, both from working among others in a team and from working on my own. With time I have worked on an increasing number of projects, and with more responsibility which has taught me how to prioritize my projects and how to estimate each project’s duration.

What is the best part about working at Midsummer?
There are so many senior employees that I get to work with and to grow and gain experience from. The most important thing to know about Midsummer is how everyone helps each other and how important it is to give some of your time to help and educate others. I can say that I am very proud to have started my career in such an international company in which the employees are from all over the world.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I mostly like to work out in the gym and do a bunch of other sports. Movies/series are also a thing that I like.

‘Hidden talent’, unusual experience or interest?
My eyes are very sharp, I can see very clearly.
