We have three different solar roofs:
We manufacture and install thin-film solar cells made by CIGS (Copper, Indium, Gallium and Selenium). Thanks to this unique technology, the solar panels become thin, light and discreet. The biggest differences compared to ordinary solar panels are:
The solar cells are manufactured in our production facility in Järfälla with our own DUO-system which is the most widespread production system for flexible CIGS solar cells in the world. The solar cells are then assembled into complete solar panels that we install on different roofing materials.
We offer three products that are adapted for roof tiles, sheet metal and bitumen.
Midsummer WAVE is a solar panel that is laid on top of two-cup roof tiles (Palema from Benders, Jönåker from Monier, Mjöbäck and Ekeby from S:t Eriks), either as retrofitting or in a complete roof replacement.
Midsummer SLIM is a combination of thin solar panels and a folded sheet metal roof. The product is sold as a complete roof renovation and the length can be customized.
Midsummer BOLD is a solar panel that fits on flat roofs, for example bitumen and plastic membranes as a base. The product is sold as a complete roof renovation or as a retrofit.
Yes, retrofitting is possible with both Midsummer WAVE and Midsummer BOLD . It involves a simple installation and does not damage the waterproofing layer of the roof. Midsummer SLIM is only sold as a complete roof renovation.
No, our thin film solar cells consist of CIGS (Copper, Indium, Gallium and Selenium).
No, our solar cells are cadmium free.
No, our solar panels are on top of the roof’s waterproofing layer. In other words, they are integrated with the design, but not integrated technically, which means that they can be applied to existing building materials.
Midsummer WAVE has an efficiency of 110 W / m², Midsummer SLIM 111 W / m² and Midsummer BOLD 116 W / m².
Our solar roofs are certified according to IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 by TÜV.
Our solar panels are certified by TÜV. They have been tested in climate chambers, thermal cycling, thermal cycling, snow pressure, hail, etc. according to current standards. Our solar panels pass all tests above standard and, above all, snow pressure, our panels pass far more than TÜV is able to expose them to. In addition, we have a number of installations on roofs in climates with snow and ice, most in Sweden, among others, in Nordingrå.
In collaboration with Resurs Bank, we offer the opportunity to finance your solar roof through either an advantageous private loan or a mortgage with a green discount. Read more here (information in swedish).
Private individuals who choose to buy solar roofs can use a green deduction of 15% up to SEK 50,000 per year, and 50% on material and labor costs for installation of batteries or charging boxes. If there are more people in the household, the sum can double.
You can also use the ROT deduction of 30% for labor costs when renovating your roof. Unlike the ROT deduction, the green deduction can be applied to new properties, including those built during the past 5 years. This only applies to private individuals and properties that are connected to the electricity grid. Companies and tenant-owner associations cannot use the deductions.
We offer a product warranty of 10 years. Our solar roofs also have a efficiency warranty of 90% after 10 years and 80% after 25 years. here.
The solar panels are available in black. Sheet metal and roof tiles are available in other colors..
Yes, you can walk on our solar roofs with care. Clean shoes and safety equipment are a prerequisite.
Yes, we install in large parts of Sweden. Contact us here if you are intrested.
In most cases, no planning permission is required, provided that the roof’s materials and colour remain the same. If you want to change the materials or colour of the roof, planning permission may be required. Furthermore, some municipalities require planning permission for solar panels. Whether or when you require planning permission thus varies from municipality to municipality. Furthermore, this can also vary depending on whether the house is located in an area with a zoning plan. Contact us and we will help to investigate whether you need to apply for planning permission for your house.
Shadow is a factor that can naturally affect electricity production. To handle this, we have designed our solar panels with a bypass diode between each solar cell, which makes the system more tolerant, unlike many other module types that have fewer diodes. If for some reason a cell is shaded, the bypass diode is activated and forwards the current to the next cell. Without bypass diodes, the current would have been drawn down into the shaded cell. Since the cells are connected in series, the current in the entire module would also be reduced to a lower level.
To find out how much electricity your solar panels produce in total, you can easily read your inverter or in the inverter’s included mobile app.
The electricity you do not use is automatically fed back into the grid. This is known as surplus electricity and you can sell it to an electricity company.
It is important that you sign an agreement regarding the sale of your solar cell. The agreements that the electricity trading company offers vary, but you are usually reimbursed with the market price for the electricity sold. The market price is determined on the Nordic electricity exchange Nord Pool and is called the spot price. Some electricity trading companies offer spot prices with a small deduction to cover administrative costs for the service, while others offer a temporarily higher price against the requirement that you also buy your electricity from them.
Midsummer SLIM is sold as a complete replacement roof. The product is a combination of an elegant metal roof and discreetly-designed solar panels. The product is installed by vulcanising the solar panels into the metal roof. The sheet metal roof and solar panels are then fitted to the property as with a normal replacement roof.
No, Midsummer SLIM is sold as a complete replacement roof as the solar panels are specially adapted to our custom-manufactured sheet metal roofs.
Midsummer SLIM has an output of 111 W/m².
We use sheet metal from SSAB, read more here.
The solar panels are only available in black, but the metal is available in a selection of colours, such as black, dark grey, silver, red, etc. Read more about all our colours here.
Midsummer SLIM is 365 mm wide and can be tailored to the desired length, from 865 mm up to 4025 mm. If needed for solar panels over 4 meters long, we can splice together several panels up to 12 meters. Even the sheet can be made up to 12 meters.
Midsummer SLIM weighs about 3 kg / m².
Midsummer WAVE fits 2-barrel roof tiles (Palema from Benders, Jönåker from Monier, and Mjöbäck and Ekeby from S:t Eriks).
Midsummer WAVE is available in black.
Midsummer WAVE The solar panels are placed on top of the roof tiles and attached below a row of tiles and locked in with clips at the bottom. The solar panels are connected in series row by row and the cables are discreetly hidden under the roof tiles.
Yes, Midsummer WAVE can be retrofitted to existing roofs or fitted as a complete replacement roof.
Midsummer WAVE has an output of 110 W/m².
On our wavy solar panel Midsummer WAVE, each individual solar cell is larger than the actual cupping on the roof tile. This means that some part of the solar cell is always illuminated if the sun is shining. Should an entire solar cell be shaded (by leaves / snow etc.) we have a diode between each solar cell which eliminates the need for so-called optimize. This is unique to Midsummer.
Seen throughout the day, the distribution is more even in comparison with flat panels because part of the panel is always in direct contact with the sun. It has been shown that over the year these solar panels produce as much or more kWh / kW than those that are only flat. Probably due to the fact that reflections are better utilized and that the light travels a longer way through the light-absorbing layer than when the solar panel is hit by light straight from the front. Even flat solar cells only have an optimal angle to the sun for a short time during the day if you do not have a tracker. When the sun is low in the east or west, the waveform helps to take even these sunbeams on a south-facing roof. However, it should be pointed out that since the sun’s rays pass through a lot of atmosphere when the sun is low (morning, evening and winter) and then do not have as much energy in them when they hit the solar panel, the effect is lower at these times regardless of which solar panels you have. It is usually also noticeable on the temperature.
A Midsummer WAVE panel is 1,530 mm wide (with a construction width of 1,500 mm) and 515 mm long (with a construction length of 340-375 mm). One panel corresponds to 5 two-cup roof tiles.
Midsummer WAVE weighs 1.9 kg per panel (equivalent to 5 two-cup roof tiles in width).
Midsummer BOLD is suitable for a range of different roofing materials, e.g. roofing felt, membrane and sandwich panels. The solar panels can be mounted to both flat and sloping roofs.
Midsummer BOLD is fitted using discreet sheet metal strips, which are screwed into tiles and then welded to the roofing material, e.g. roofing felt, membrane or sandwich panels.
Yes, Midsummer BOLD can be retrofitted to existing roofs or fitted as a complete replacement roof.
Midsummer BOLD has an output of 116 W / m².
Midsummer BOLD is available in black.
A Midsummer BOLD panel is 1,685 mm long and 1,000 mm wide.
Midsummer BOLD weighs 3 kg / m².
