With Midsummer’s solar roof, you no longer have to compromise between solar energy and aesthetics. Midsummer WAVE is a wave-shaped solar panel that follows the shape of your roof tiles.
The product is suitable for Sweden’s most popular roof tiles Palema from Benders, Jönåker from Monier and Mjöbäck/Ekeby from S: t Eriks and is either sold as a retrofit on existing roof tiles or as a complete roof renovation. The solar panel covers five roof tiles in a row and the cables are hidden under the tiles for both protection and aesthetics.
For you who think that aesthetics and sustainability belong together.
Midsummer WAVE is a Swedish innovation manufactured at the Midsummer production facility in Sweden.
Due to low material consumption, a unique manufacturing process and production in Sweden, Midsummer’s solar roofs have a 90% lower carbon footprint compared to traditional solar panels.
With Midsummer’s discrete solar roofs, you can produce solar without changing the house’s original design.
In order for us to be able to check out your house on Google Maps, we need your address as a first step.
The Midsummer WAVE solar panel is only available in black. Your roof tiles can be in any color, but black is most suitable as the roof tiles will be perceived as black.
We are happy to receive a drawing of your roof as a PDF, so that we can produce as accurate a quote as possible. You are also welcome to take pictures of the house and the part of the roof that is going to be covered with solar panels (usually the south side).
The slope must be at least 22 degrees. Roof domes and aerations are obstacles and reduce the surface that is possible to cover with solar panels and it is not possible to mount on surfaces less than about 20 sqm in a wind direction or other slope than other roof parts. Even though Midsummer's solar panels have very good shading properties, it is not worthwhile to mount on surfaces that are shaded by trees and the like.
We offer thin film panels of the CIGS type. It can be good to know that this type of solar panel is a little lower in efficiency than a traditional solar panel, but has other advantages such as discreet design, flexibility and low weight.
Roof surfaces facing the North are not worth putting solar cells on, but the East and West can often be profitable. Optimal is south facing. Installation on different buildings on the site is possible, but extra costs are usually added.
Midsummer WAVE does NOT replace ordinary roof tiles. The solar panel is a two mm thin film that is laid on top of existing roof tiles (The panel suits the popular tiles Palema from Benders, Jönåker from Monier/BMI and Mjöbäck and Ekeby from S:t Eriks).
We offer inverters and charging boxes in various designs. The electricity you do not use yourself is automatically sold back to the electricity grid. Therefore, it is good to be aware that batteries are not always profitable, but it is available if desired. There is also the possibility of Ö-Drift, but there are limitations in these systems and the cost is very high.
Midsummer offers a number of batteries for energy storage as well as electric vehicle chargers. Contact us and we will help you find the best solution for you.
“Our WAVE panels blend with our roof and with our area, where the original character of houses must be preserved. It’s a positive thing that the solar panels are made in Sweden with a small climate footprint and communication with Midsummer has been smooth. And now the spring sunshine's starting to come through, we're getting our own KwH for the first time!”
“Our interest in Midsummer was piqued when we wanted an integrated solar roof. The combination of installing both new roofing with cardboard and tiles and discrete solar panels reflecting the shape of the tiles meant a tasteful design and made the choice an obvious one. In addition, we appreciate the low climate footprint of the WAVE panels in production.”
“We're very happy, both with the work and the look of the solar panels.”
