Why Midsummer?

Swedish

Midsummer solar roofs are a Swedish innovation, manufactured at the Midsummer production facility in Järfälla outside Stockholm.

Sustainable

Midsummer's solar roofs have 90% lower than traditional solar panels.

Unique

Midsummer solar panels are flexible and only 2 mm thin, with a minimum weight of about 3 kg / m² (excl. roof). No drilling is required during installation and the solar roof can be carefully walked on during maintenance.

Discreet

With Midsummer's discreet solar roofs, you can produce solar without changing the house's original design.

Safe

We are experts in solar roofs and will be with you throughout – from initial contact to final installation. Midsummer's solar roofs has a 10-year product guarantee and 90% expected peak power after 10 years and 80% after 25 years.

“I wanted a solution that suited our building without being too intrusive. I’m very happy with my roof, both in terms of its look and functionality, and working with Midsummer on the installation was quick and effortless.”

How it works

01

Guidance

Describe your roof and what you want – our solar roof designers will design an individual solution for your roof. We offer turnkey contracts.

02

Estimates

When you have chosen the solar roof that suits you, Midsummer prepares a quote. After reaching an agreement, we will make a site visit to confirm the roof’s dimensions.

03

Financing with a green loan

In collaboration with Hemma and Skandiabanken, we offer the opportunity to finance your solar cells through a loan with a green discount. Read more here.

04

Manufacturing and installation

After control measurement, your solar panels are manufactured in our production facility in Järfälla outside Stockholm. When the material is finished, our certified installers and electricians perform the installation according to industry standards.

05

Commissioning

When installation is complete, we will help you to send in the final application to your electricity supplier. When the supplier has approved the final registration, we put the plant into operation and hand over all the necessary documentation so you can feel safe with your installation.

06

Electricity production

Your roof can now produce electricity from the sun's rays for your own use or to sell to the electricity grid. Midsummer solar panels have a ten-year product warranty and expected peak output of 80% after 25 years.

How solar energy works

Med PowerMesh Technology (PMT) får du nu en ännu mer diskret look utan vita linjer. Men det bästa är bevarat – du får samma svensktillverkade och pålitliga solpanel, lika enkel att installera och underhålla som förr.

How solar energy works

Climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time, and it is more important than ever to recover energy from renewable sources. One of the greatest sources of energy is the sun. The sun produces as much energy in two hours as the combined annual consumption of the world's population.

But how do we exploit solar energy? And how does the process work, from the sun's rays shining on a solar cell to electricity in our sockets?

01

Where does it start?

Solar panels consist of a number of solar cells connected to each other in series. When the solar rays shine on the solar panel, electrical voltage is created between the front and back of each solar cell. This electrical voltage forms direct current.

02

From direct current to alternating current

The direct current is sent to an inverter installed in your house. The inverter converts the direct current to alternating current. The alternating current is sent in turn to your central electrical unit and on to the house's power sockets.

03

Use your solar electricity

The electricity you do not use is automatically fed back into the grid. This is known as surplus electricity and you can sell it to an electricity company.

A sunshine story all over Sweden

Midsummer installs solar roofs all over Sweden, on the pins on the map you can see a selection of where in the country our solar roofs are located. Click on the pin for more information.

The location of the pins does not show the exact address. Contact us here if you want to visit an installation.

Midsummer's solar panels consist of thin-film solar cells of the CIGS type, which makes them thin, light, flexible and discreet. The solar panels are placed on different types of roofing material, e.g. sheet metal, roof tiles or roofing felt, where the end product becomes a discreet solar roof.

The solar cells are manufactured in our production facility in Järfälla with our own DUO system, which is the most widespread production system for flexible CIGS solar cells in the world. The solar cells are then assembled into finished solar panels, also in Järfälla. The solar panels are placed on different types of roofing material, e.g. sheet metal, roof tiles or roofing felt, where the end product becomes a discreet solar roof.

  • Our products are manufactured at our own production facilities in Järfälla outside Stockholm.
  • The manufacture of Midsummer's solar roofs produces 90% less carbon dioxide emissions than traditional solar panels, according to a third-party reviewed lifecycle analysis (LCA) carried out in 2020.
  • The solar panels are light, flexible and only 2 mm thick, and do not affect the appearance of your roof or the aesthetics of your house. The roof still looks like a regular roof, even when Midsummer products have been installed.
  • The solar panels do not contain any heavy glass or aluminium element, significantly reducing materials consumption.
  • Installation does not require any holes in the waterproofing layer of the roof. We do not screw or drill holes in the waterproofing layer, significantly reducing the risk of leaks.

Our solar panels are mounted onto the surface, following the contours of the roof and are on top of the roof's waterproofing layer. In other words, they are integrated with the design, but not integrated technically, which means that they can be applied to existing building materials. The result is a discreet solar roof.

We offer three products that are specially adapted for different types of roofing materials, such as roof tiles, sheet metal and bitumen.

Our product Midsummer WAVE is a solar panel that is laid on top of two-cup roof tiles (Palema from Benders, Jönåker from Monier and Mjöbäck from S: t Eriks), either as retrofitting or in a complete roof replacement.

Our product Midsummer SLIM is a combination of a folded sheet metal roof and discreet solar panels and is sold as a complete roof replacement.

Our product Midsummer BOLD is a solar panel that fits both flat and sloping roofs, for example with bitumen and plastic membranes as a base.

Our solar roofs can be installed on, for example, private villas, apartment buildings and industrial buildings.

Yes, retrofitting is possible with both Midsummer WAVE and Midsummer BOLD It is a simple installation without affecting the waterproofing layer of the roof.

Midsummer WAVE is installed by placing it on top of the roof tiles. The panels are attached below a row of tiles and locked with clips at the bottom. Midsummer BOLD is fastened with discrete sheet metal strips that are screwed into plates and then welded to the roof material, for example bitumen or membrane roofs.

Midsummer SLIM can not be retrofitted but is sold with a complete roof replacement.

Midsummer SLIM has an output of 111 W/m², Midsummer BOLD 116 W/m² and Midsummer WAVE 110 W/m².

The thermal efficiency of our solar cells is 15-15.5%.
